This is your opportunity to respond to Whitman’s “O Me., O, Life.” When he says, “The Powerful Play goes on, and You may Contribute a verse.” what will your verse be?
As always, be grammatically correct and precise. Also finish your statement with a verse from a favorite song or poem.
Bon Chance,

A contribution that I will give to the world is my efforts to help others that are less fortunate then ourselves. Later in life, as I get older, I hope to be able to foster children that are not wanted by their own parents. I would also want to go on a missionary trip to the Philippines to help medically, and spiritually. I want to teach people that we don’t need to hate each other because of what we look like. We should grow up, and accept people for who they are.
Where is the love?- Black Eyed Peas
I feel the weight of the world on my shoulder
As I’m getting older y’all people get colder
Most of us only care about money makin
Selfishness got us followin the wrong direction
Wrong information always shown by the media
Negative images is the main criteria
Infecting their young minds faster than bacteria
Kids wanna act like what the see in the cinema
Whatever happened to the values of humanity
Whatever happened to the fairness and equality
Instead of spreading love, we’re spreading anomosity
Lack of understanding, leading us away from unity
That’s the reason why sometimes I’m feeling under
That’s the reason why sometimes I’m feeling down
It’s no wonder why sometimes I’m feeling under
I gotta keep my faith alive, until love is found
The verse that I will put into the powerfull play of life the verse of art. By art I mean all the things artistic in the world. Such as music, drama, drawing, sketch, and paint. I am very good with a pencil. Both in art and in writing. I am thinking of a career that will put me onstage. I am already in the Avondale Theater Company and I am also in Concert Chior under the direction of Mr. Cornwell. By the look of things, I have a very good life ahead of me and By my lifes end, I will have contibuted my verse to the powerfull play of life.
Through the Fire and Flames
Dragonforce
” So far away we wait for the day, for the nights all so waisted and gone, we feel the pain of a lifetime lost in a thousand days, through the fire and flames we carry on.
The thing I will contribute to the world is a great mind, meaning in the sense that I believe I am a great thinker. I can comprehend meanings, and I take my thinking to the next level. That is what I will contribute.
“Look at me.
Can you tell,
By the way I move and do my hair?
Do you think that it’s me,
Or is it not me?
I don’t even care.”
I’m a fake by The Used
My verse is that I will contribute to help do away with animal cruelty. I will help to stop people I know from doing it and I will pay those who rescue them and care for them. I will help a few animals that are in the ASPCA and those other organizations. Animals have a life just like us and people don’t like to be abused and neither do animals. A quote that I found about the poem O Me! O Life! is “Life is a promise; fulfill it.” Mother Teresa
My contribution to the play would be a helping hand. By becoming a doctor I could help those who need taking care of. I would not become a doctor for the money, but rather the chance to help another besides myself. To save another would be a great accomplishment and I would feel proud of what I did. It would benefit the entire world if just one more person would lend a hand.
“No one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of another.”
what will I contribute the powerful play ?
I will do all i can in my power to help others human and animal. I will be part of the solution to global warming not the problem. I will emberrasse myself for others enjoyment .I will bring happiness and joy to the world.
happiness happiness
the greatist gift that we possess
oh i thank the lord that i’v been blessed
with more than my share of happiness
to me this world is a wonderful place
im the happiest human in the human race – happiness, Shaggy
When I am dead and my part of the play is done, I want to be remembered for 2 things. First I want to be remembered for all the people I affected during my life. I want to be known for all the ways I affected people in good ways, and hopefully there will be no negative ways I affected people to remember. The less shallow thing I want to remember for is for how I lived my life. When people see my grave or my chapter in the poem I want them to be like, dang he knew how to enjoy life.
Coldplay
Viva la Vida
I used to rule the world
Seas would rise when I gave the word
The verse I intend on adding to the great play is that I will leave this world with honor, and knowledge that once I am gone I will be known for being a good man. That is all that I want in the world. If i have my chance to do something better then I will gladly seize the chance. The song that fits this verse best is “He was a good man” by Emerson Drive.
I wanna be the one
When all is said and done
Who lived a good life, loved a good wife, and always helped someone in trouble
On the day they lay me down
I want everyone to gather round
And say he was a father, brother, neighbour and a friend
He was a good man!
My contribution to the play would be forgiveness. By having the power to forgive someone says a lot about your character. Forgiving also saves lives at times. Once I’m gone I want to be known for forgiving people and giving them second chance. The song I chose is by Hannah Montanna-My Beauty Verse
everybody makes mistakes
everybody has those days
everybody knows what what I’m talking about
everybody gets that way
nobody’s perfect
I gotta work it
again and again ’till I get it right
nobody’s perfect
ya live and you learn it
and if I mess it up sometimes…
The verse I contribute to life is my ability to be that person that people tell stuff, (personal stuff), to and go to for advice. I will admit sometimes like being this person because depending on who you are I could really careless. but other times I really enjoy giving two cents when people ask for it. Hopefully they find it useful and in most cases they do so the song that contributes best is,
Lean On Me By: Bill Withers
” Sometimes in our lives we all have pain,
we all have sorrow
but if we are wise
we know that theres always tomorrow.”
“Lean on me, when your not strong.
And i’ll be your friend,
I’ll help carry on.
For it won’t be long,
‘Till Im gonna need,
Somebody to lean on.”

In many ways I contribute to the great play of life. But, the one verse I will contribute the most to the magnificent play is by music. I’m not entirely sure what specific idea I want to do that involves music, but any way that involves music. I know i’ll try my hardest to give this verse of life all its got and even when I haven’t had the best luck, I’ll keep going and pursue my dream. The lyrics I feel best describe for me what life is is the song “Unwritten” by natasha Beddingfield.
I am unwritten
Can’t read my mind
I’m undefined
I’m just beginning
the pen’s in my hand
ending unplanned
Staring at the blank page before you
open up the dirty window
let the sun illuminate the words that you can not find
reaching for something in the distance
so close you can almost taste it
release your inhabitions
feel the rain on your skin
no one else can feel it for you
only you can let it in
no one else, no one else can speak the words on your lips
drench yourself in words unspoken
live your life with eyes wide open
today is where your book begins
the rest is still unwritten
My verse will be a well-written exposé about the efforts of a minor character in the great play. It will show all the wisdom, knowledge, and sanity that my brief time on stage allows me present. Included will be every deed -good or bad- that I make. Shown will be how my actions shape others and their actions. My part in the play will be written about a man with good intentions and so-far unknown effect.
Here’s a part of “what a wonderful world” by Louis Armstrong:
I see friends shaking hands, sayin.. how do you do
Theyre really sayin… I love you.
I hear babies cry, I watch them grow
you know their gonna learn
A whole lot more than I’ll never know
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world
The verse that I will contribute to what I call the great bowl of life is a voice. I am going to be the voice for those who cannot speak and those who have no one to listen to their voice. Many children and teens go through problems and tough decisions with family, friends, and significant others that they want or need to talk about. But for many, there is either no one there to listen or people just don’t want to listen. What I mean by a voice for those who cannot speak is a voice for animals. The homeless animals stuck in kill shelters waiting for their turn to enter the gas chamber, the many animals beaten or abused, and the dogs being trained to fight against their own kind. For me to achieve for this voice to reach every ear around the world, I must be the loudest. The song lyrics I chose were from L.I.F.E. by Lil mama.
why is my life set up for a failure I can care
Less with the people say to ya’ll we break out
In rage venting all the hurt inside who am I
To tell you what you fail to realize the voice that you hold
Within you the voice that you are

The verse i will give to this play is a mystery yet to me. It amazes me how people can predict what they will do in the future without truely living out life. Some teachers don’t become teachers just because that has been their life-long dream. You never know what you truely love until you experience many things and continue to try the bizzare and extraodinary. I’m just going to be who I am, bring a smile every day, and hope for the best. So, when I do add a verse to the live of mankind; I hope that verse will be helpful to others and myself in society. But, I certainly do not know what that verse will be.
I would contribute peace the lyrics that I chose were by R Kelly I chose these lyrics because I think that is one of the important things that our world needs and deserves
(Peace) it’s what I prayer for
(Peace) oh my
(Peace)
(Peace) all around the world
(Peace) it’s what I prayer for
(Peace) oh my
(Peace)
(Peace) hurry
Come on in this house children
The war has started
Light the candles right now
It’s about to be darkness, oh yeah
There’s no telling when the sun will shine again, no
When it’s over there’s a question asked
Who wins? Who wins?
Spirit
Through the land
Spirit of peace
Oh yes
Spirit move
Oh move
Oh yeah
Heaven send down
I will contribute to the world by trying to join the Air Force. I want to do this because I want to protect others. I want to be remembered for doing somthing. I feel that protecting others will be a way that i can do this. I want to provide somthing for my country too.
I was put here for a reason
I was born into this world
And I’m living and I’m believing
I was meant to be your girl
In this life

Sometimes life can be stressful from the pointless strivings of man, we unavoidably “contribute a verse”, and no matter how much we want to know the meaning of it, it’s just beyond us. Whitman tells us that it’s okay to involve ourselves in our own way without trying to know if it’s good. The good is that it exists and we are all a part of it.
“Make love and not war!
Cause we don’t need no trouble.
What we need is love,
to guide and protect us on.
If you hope good down from above,
help the weak if you are strong now.”
Bob Marley- No More Trouble
I will contribute to the world by being confident in myself. Even if it is different from what everyone else is doing. I will make others proud to stand out and believe in their selves.
“I’m so nice that I’d bet my life.”
Ray Tillman
I will contribute to the world by accept everyone I meet because the world is in a crisis of judging before people meet them which is a virus that must die in our society
song By Mary J. Blige
So take me as I am,
or have nothing at all.
Just take me as I am,
or have nothing at all.
This is what i think sums up the story i’ve made so far, i really haven’t done a lot but through all I’ve done some bad some good I’d like to be known as someone who would change if I knew I was wrong.
“Changes” By: David Bowie
” I still don’t know what i was waiting for
and my time was running wild
a million dead-end streets
every time i thought I’d got it made
it seemed the taste was not so sweet
so i turned myself to face man
but i never caught a glimpse
how the other must see the faker
I’m much to fast to take that test
Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes
(turn and face the strain)
Ch-ch-changes
Don’t want to be a richer man
Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes
(turn and face the strain)
Ch-ch-changes
Just gonna have to be a different man
Time may change me
But i can’t trace time”
I what to be a leader to those childer and adults that have no one to look up too. One day i would love to help every person i can , help them make the right decisison and help them better their life. When I help others i get this warm feeling in my heart and i love that feeling so i want to help people my whole life so i can keep that feeling.
“Leadership is action, not position”
~ Donald H. McGannon
The part that I will contribute to the earth is being truthful. The meaning of truth could extend from being honest, good faith or just facing the facts of reality. If you are truthful the world would be a better place, it might recieve concequenses if you tell the truth, but telling the truth is much better than bottleing something in your mind for a long time.
song lyric:
(ian hunter)
Lonely days lonely nights
Hoping thing’s gonna turn out right
You had me hanging on a string
For you I did most anything
You don’t give me no
The truth, the whole truth, nothing but the truth
Its a blind mans eye baby ain’t no youth
The truth, the whole truth, nothing but the truth
Don’t need your lies I got my proof
Put your face up to my window
Ask me baby what did I see
Well I know I know you ain’t right
I know you ain’t right for me
You don’t give me no
The truth, the whole truth, nothing but the truth
Gods little baby’s got nothing to shoot
The truth, the whole truth, nothing but the truth
Get your kicks on a different route
All I want is the truth
All I want is the truth
All I want is
The truth, the whole truth, nothing but the truth
Blind mans eye baby ain’t no use
The truth, the whole truth, nothing but the truth
Don’t need your lies I got nothing to prove
The truth, the whole truth, nothing but the truth
Gods little baby’s got nothing to shoot
The truth, the whole truth, nothing but the truth
Get your kicks on a different route
Don’t hurt ya
Don’t hurt ya
The truth don’t hurt ya
The truth don’t hurt ya
Don’t hurt ya don’t hurt ya
The truth don’t hurt ya
I would like to contribute to the world by getting the chance to talk to people that always say “I don’t have anything to say”. I believe that everyone has something to say. Even if it’s a problem that they have, or if it’s a positive thing they have. Basically what I’m saying is, I want to give advice to people that don’t always know what is going on around them and to people who think they’re alone in the world.
By Myself- Linkin Park
By myself
Myself
I ask why
But in my mind I find
I can’t rely on myself
Myself
I ask why
But in my mind I find
I can’t rely on myself
I can’t look around
It’s too much to take in
I can’t hold back
When I’m stretched so thin
I can’t slow down
Watching everything spin
I can’t look back
Starting over again
If I turn my back I’m defenceless
And to go blindly seems senceless
If I hide my pride and let it all go on
Then they’ll take from me ’til everything is gone
If I let them go I’ll be outdone
But if I try to catch them I’ll be outrun
If I’m killed by the questions like a cancer
Then I’ll be buried in the silence of the answer

the way i will contribute to the play called life is by being myself honest, funny ,silly, and outgoing and inthe furture i will put smiles on peoples faces, because everbody needs to put a smile on.
ah ah oh oh

(chorus x2)
One thing that I would contibute to the world would tell someone after they made a mistake, that it isn’t the end of the world and everything is going to be better. Tell them to not let this problem get to them and just tell me the truth about what is going on and I will help you.
Bob Marley: Three Little Birds
“Don’t worry about a thing,
‘Cause every little thing gonna be all right.
Singin’: “Don’t worry about a thing,
‘Cause every little thing gonna be all right!”
Rise up this mornin’,
Smiled with the risin’ sun,
Three little birds
Pitch by my doorstep
Singin’ sweet songs
Of melodies pure and true,
Sayin’, (”This is my message to you-ou-ou:”)
Singin’: “Don’t worry ’bout a thing,
‘Cause every little thing gonna be all right.”
Singin’: “Don’t worry (don’t worry) ’bout a thing,
‘Cause every little thing gonna be all right!”
Rise up this mornin’,
Smiled with the risin’ sun,
Three little birds
Pitch by my doorstep
Singin’ sweet songs
Of melodies pure and true,
Sayin’, “This is my message to you-ou-ou:”
Singin’: “Don’t worry about a thing, worry about a thing, oh!
Every little thing gonna be all right. Don’t worry!”
Singin’: “Don’t worry about a thing” – I won’t worry!
“‘Cause every little thing gonna be all right.”
Singin’: “Don’t worry about a thing,
‘Cause every little thing gonna be all right” – I won’t worry!
Singin’: “Don’t worry about a thing,
‘Cause every little thing gonna be all right.”
Singin’: “Don’t worry about a thing, oh no!
‘Cause every little thing gonna be all right!
The one thing that I would contribute to the world is that I am going to enjoy every part of life and I am not going to take people for granted. I am also going to live life to the fullest. I picked the song called “Live Like You Were Dying” by Tim McGraw because I thought that this song showed how you should experience life and see the world to its fullest.
“I went skydiving
I went rocky mountain climbing
I went two point seven seconds on a bull named Fu Man Chu
And I loved deeper
And I spoke sweeter
And I gave forgiveness I’d been denyin’
And he said some day I hope you get the chance
To live like you were dyin’ “
My verse is my impact on others in there religion. I try to help find God in everything I do. I use myself as a representative to show how your life can be with God in it. This is the verse I am giving to help show people the way and show them there verse. The verse I chose is “How do you like me now, now that im on my why.” This explains me by showing my faith and helping me to show it to others.
The verse I will put in is my ability to show people that the glass is never half empty. I mostly always think of the possitives, I believe that is the way people should view life. Change the things you can and dont worry about the ones you cant.
“Badness is what you demonstrate
and thats exactly how anger works and operates
Man you gotta have love just to set it straight,
Take control of your mind and meditate
Let your soul gravitate to the love y’all y’all
People killin’, people dyin’
Children hurt and hear them cryin’?
Can you practice what you preach?
And would you turn the other cheek?
Father, Father, Father help us
Send some guidance from above
‘Cause people got me, got me questionin’
Where is the love?”
The verse I will contribute to the play is my way of thinking. I dont think like everyone else, i may be goofy about it, but when I really am thinking, I usually think the right things.
“So don’t go worrying about me
It’s not like I think about you constantly
So maybe I do, but that shouldn’t affect
Your life anymore
I knew it the moment you walked into the door”
all hail the heartbreaker by the spill canvas
The will contribute my ideas and my thoughts. I will try to influence people so that they can have their own thoughts, and not be like the rest of the world. I will attempt to convince people that they do should not have to put up an image, or try to fit in, that they should be their own person. I’d do this because this world has gone crazy, or I think so.
Tell me what’s wrong with society
When everywhere I look, I see
Young girls dying to be on TV
They won’t stop till they’ve reached their dreams
Diet pills, surgery
Photoshopped pictures in magazines
Telling them how they should be
It doesn’t make sense to me
Is everybody going crazy?
Is anybody gonna save me?
Can anybody tell me what’s going on?
Tell me what’s going on?
If you open your eyes
You’ll see that something is wrong
Crazy by Simple Plan
I will contribute to this world by being myself and myself only. I will not pretend to be someone else when I know I am not that person. I will try to be who I am.
->The song I chose is showed below:
Artist/Rapper:
Kid Frost
Song:
“…Vatos, cholos, you call us what you will
You say we are assassins an we are sent to kill,
It’s in my blood to be an Aztec Warrior
Go to any extreme and hold no barriers
Chicano and I’m Brown and I’m proud…”
My contribution to the play will be well routed sewers, and well build bridges and roads. As a civil engineer I will make sure that bridges, roads, sewers etc. will be designed efficiently and safe. This is what I will contribute to the play.
Here’s a little song I wrote
You might want to sing it note for note
Don’t worry, be happy.
In every life we have some trouble
But when you worry you make it double
Don’t worry, be happy.
Don’t worry, be happy now.
Don’t worry, be happy. Don’t worry, be happy.
Don’t worry, be happy. Don’t worry, be happy.
Ain’t got no place to lay your head
Somebody came and took your bed
Don’t worry, be happy.
The landlord say your rent is late
He may have to litigate
Don’t worry, be happy.
(Look at me — I’m happy. Don’t worry, be happy.
Here I give you my phone number. When you worry, call me,
I make you happy. Don’t worry, be happy.)
Ain’t got no cash, ain’t got no style
Ain’t got no gal to make you smile
Don’t worry, be happy.
‘Cause when you worry your face will frown
And that will bring everybody down
Don’t worry, be happy.
(Don’t worry, don’t worry, don’t do it.
Be happy. Put a smile on your face.
Don’t bring everybody down.
Don’t worry. It will soon pass, whatever it is.
Don’t worry, be happy.
I’m not worried, I’m happy…)
What i contribute to this world is that im respectful and i dont take things for granted and im gonna take advantage of every small thing that makes advantage in my life and dont worry about the small things because everything will be ok.
And we’ll all float on OK. And we’ll all float on OK.
And we’ll all float on OK. And we’ll all float on.
Alright already, we’ll all float on.
No don’t you worry. We’ll all float on.
Alright, already. We’ll all float on.
Alright, don’t worry. We’ll all float on
float on- modest mouse.
Sometimes life can be stressful from the pointless strivings of man, we unavoidably “contribute a verse”, and no matter how much we want to know the meaning of it, it’s just beyond us.
“Make love and not war!
Cause we don’t need no trouble.

Kreinbring – I love this assignment!
I saw someone already mentioned Viva La Vida, which is currently one of my favorites at the moment.
So, I’d have to go with:
“The Kill” by The Dresden Dolls
[I'll think of another one later]
I am an anarchist
An antichrist
An asterix
I am an anorak
An acolyte
An accidental
I am eleven feet
Ok, eight…
Six foot three…
I fought the British and I won
I have a rocket ship
A jetfighter
A paper airplane
Ja ja ja ja ja
