Twain and Race and NYC’s Radiolab

Great start on the race question. Now, as you continue to read and think about how Twain is instigating an inqury in to the nature of race listen to this website.

Listen to the first story, “Race Doesn’t Exsist, or Does it”. Then listen to the third piece, “can You See Race?”
After you’ve done that, write a reaction to the two pieces.Your reaction needs to be insightful, grammatically correct, and about 250 words long.

Twain’s Pudd’nhead Wilson and Race

In his novel Twain challenges us to think about what race really means. Tom and Chambers are switched, and then raised as members of different races. Roxy is one sixteenth black. Chambers is one thirty-second black. What does any of this mean?

I put the question to you. What is race, and how does it define you a person is? Respond in grammatically correct, complete sentences. Try using the chunking techniques we’ve been learning in class.
