Just another Edublogs.org weblogIdols and Anthems of Your Youth
Joyce Maynard’s “My Secret Life with the Rolling Stones” brought up the idea of idols and anthems of youth.
When I was young-many, many years ago-my idol was Bruce Springsteen.
He was everything that I was not, talented, tough and cool, very cool. I tried but I was always better at playing Dungeons and Dragons than writing songs.
He also wrote the anthem of my youth, “Born to Run”. Again, I had no connection to this song, I was not “born to run” but born to teach, but it made me feel cool. If you look closely at the video you’ll see me. I’m the man in the white suit with the saxophone.

She came3 out the struggles in her life on her own. She didn’t have anybody hold her hand and telling her what to do. She had a dream and ent for it giving it her all. Now she is one of the ealthiest Black woman in the world. She is everything I soon hope in the future to be.

My idol in life is Peter Vanderkaay because he is everything that I want to be in swimming. I have always want to be a world class swimmer but as far as I know that is a once in a life time possibility and will be extremely hard to do. Also my idol is Peter because he is a nice guy even with all the fame that he has he isn’t stuck up like a lot of over really good swimmers.
My teen anthem is Break Free by Decyfer Down. This is my teen anthem because it talks about breaking free from everyone and the disease that this world have cased upon us. I use this song while I’m swimming because it get me pumped and helps me win.

My idol anthem would have to be “The way I love you” by Ashanti. Although Ashanti is not my idol I love this song to death. It makes me think about relationships and love. It makes me think back to all the problems I had that are similar. I don’t like all her songs but this is a hit single. Most songs I listen to do represent my relationships. In conclusion my idol anthem is “The way I love you”-by Ashanti.
My idol anthem would have to be my bestfriend Rachael. She’s not a singer, or even somebody famous but she is definitley somebody who i would look up to. The things that are even sometimes traumatising that I see her go through make me wonder how she does it. From foster home to foster home i see her traveling even sometimes she is taken away from the people she has grown to love and has to start over. Even when everything is going wrong Rachael always remains with a smile on her face. I can only imagine how hard her life is, she goes through mental and even physical abuse. I wish that sometimes I could be like her, by that I don’t mean do the same things she does, or face the things she faces, but i would love to be even for a second half as strong as she is.
my song would have to be

My idol is Lil Wayne. He is my idol because he raps about what is going on and is not afraid to say what he is thinking. Lil Wayne is my idol because all the things he does is for his fans. He is also “The Greatest Rapper Alive”.
My anthem would have to be A Millie by Lil Wayne. This is my anthem because it represents me, which is money.

My idol is Donavon Mcnabb QB for the Philadelphia Eagles. He is my ideal because he is a team leader and plays hard in practice and in the games.
My anthem would The good left undone by Rise Against. I like this sound because it sounds good and i can relate to their lyrics.

My idol of my youth and still is today even though he is not playing hockey anymore is Steve Yzerman, I look up to him in not just in the fact that he was an amazing hockey the reason I looked up to him was because he was a great leader and amazing teammate and captain. I would always watch his games, whether we were losing or winning it was always good to watch.
Another idol of my youth would have to be my cousin he also is a hockey player and a motocross rider he is 21 now and I have always looked up to him both my cousin Jason and Steve yzerman are both idols of my youth and I will always look up to both of them. Which I believe will make me a better person.
Taylor Swift would have to be my teen idol. She is a new country singer from last two or three years. She is very young and I think that her music is amazing and I wish I could sing just like her. She sings about a lot of love and heartbreak and I think it really relates to teenage kids, mostly girls. Because at that age you have a lot of boyfriends and girlfriends and when you break up we all think that it’s the end of our lives. She writes about her own experiences and things for a 16 year old girl to hear, like herself. She is not turning into a whore like almost every other young singer in this business. She is innocent and has a lot of talent, she is the youngest country star and I think her songs are amazing.
My Anthem would have to be the song, Our Song by Taylor Swift. It is talking about things that almost all teenagers do sometime in their life. Like sneaking out and talking on the phone really late, no matter if you’re a guy or a girl I think this song can relate it to you in one way or another.

The idol of my youth would have to have been my mommy, Stacey Smith. My mom was the only person I could trust and count on all through my life. She is the only one who has been here for me since day one. I never really had a father so I really only looked up to her. She was a hard working woman who learned to stand on her own two feet and not let anyone get her down. She did whatever she had to in order to support my younger sister and I. All through my childhood, and even through my teenage years, I look at my mother as pretty much a superwoman. I have a very strong relationship with her and I can tell her anything. She trusts me just as much as I trust her, and in reality she is my only real best friend. I appreciate her for everything she has ever done for me.
The anthem of my youth would have to be: Cry by Tynisha Keli
http://www.imeem.com/people/5pNyUlp/playlist/9yelky_Q/tynisha_kelicry_music_playlist/
The song is basically saying when you are going through hard times it’s okay to cry.
My idol would have to be Mr Went, the gym teacher from the middle school. During my childhood i would have to say that he helped mold me more than anyone has. Mr Went has impacted many aspects in my life and many others. He has brought a sense of a safe haven when you walk into the gym. When i went through the divorce of my mom and dad he was there everyday for me to talk to me and help me out. He always remind me that since i believed in god, i knew god had a plan for me. He helped me look forward to things rather than looking back at the past and worrying about it.
My teen anthem would have to be, No Stopping by Jason Mraz. I love Jason Mraz’s music and this one is a good song. To most it would seem to be a love song, but i see it was a song about oppertunites.
My childhood idol would probably have to be Carlos Santana. Listening to Santana’s solos and songs has always amazed and inspired me. I started playing guitar about two months ago. I love music, not just guitar but also many other styles, mostly rap. Hearing Santana play the guitar is what inspired me to start playing.
My childhood idol’s are Saun Rogers and . They are defensive players that are in the NFL. Saun Rogers plays for Clevend Browns and Ernie Sims playing for the Lions. Saun Rogers my favorite player even though he got traded is still my favorite player. He sets the tone defence and really pumps the crowd up/ He weighs three hundred and something and got a incerpation. He took back for 66 yards for a touchdown. Ernie Sims is my second favorite. He is very small but a big key for the lions. He said that size dosen’t matter and I listned to him. I play Starting Nose Guard for our football team. I am right up there with all of the big guys. I listen to my idols because they cant steer you wrong.
My idol when I was younger as well as now would have to me my older sister Jamie. I remember going through her room and taking her clothes because just like everyone else who had an older sibling wanted to be like them. I tried to do everything just like her, my hair my room my attitude etc. It aggravated her so much but really I think that she kinda like me being right there next to her, looking exactly like her.
If I had to chose my teenage anthem would be Fight for your Right by the Beastie Boys.

So my hero would have to be…. My hero is my grandpa. He’s every thing that you would want a grandpa to be. He is important because he is there for my sports. When I get in trouble he is the one to talk to. He is a good person because he is smart. When school work comes along he might not know what to do but HE will find out how to do it. He has to corvettes and he plays the guitar. he had taught me how to play and now im farely good at it what most people say.He is married to great women. My grandma…. These to together is the heart of my life. With out these to then I wont be the person who I am today. So this is the hero of my life. They aren’t very famous but they are to me.
My idol would have to be Molly Ringwald. I know that I wasn’t born when she made her movies but just recently I’ve watched them and I absolutely love her movies. I love the characters that she portrays in her films. Such as Sixteen Candles and Pretty in Pink, she’s this girl that no one really pays attention to and sometimes that’s how I feel.
An anthem would have to be: A Place in This World by: Taylor Swift. It represents me because it talks about how a girl and who struggles to find out who she is because she doesn’t know who she is. When she makes mistakes she kind of brush’s them off her shoulder and just moves on with her so called “life.” This is why this song is my anthem. It reminds me of my self in a way.

My idol is Tiger Woods. Tiger Woods has been my idol for a while. He shows all the qualities that an idol should have. He doesn’t give up and he is always working hard. Tiger Woods lost his Dad, but he continues to win and win and never give up. He strives for perfection and never gets down. Tiger bounces back from things that sometimes don’t go his way.
My teen anthem would have to be Carmina Burana: O Fortuna. This song is a pretty sweet song. Many people have probably heard it but may not know the name of it. I think it is a forgotten song and needs to be brought back. It can be a song to get you ready for a game. But I like how it shows alot of emotion within the song.

My idol has always been my older sister, Kelsey, and my mom. Kelsey has always been there for me, just like an older sister should. My mom has also been there for me, and has helped me become who i am today. When i get older, i would like to be like my mom, because she is always helping someone, and is so easy to talk to.
I would say that my teen anthem is Cleaning This Gun, by Rodney Atkins. This song is coming from a father’s point of view on boys dating his daughter. This is my teen anthem because my dad (and mom) worries about that, and is always watching over me; whether it’s with boys, or simply going out with friends.
