I didn’t get this book from the library, but it is called House and it is by Ted Dekker. If you like CREEPY horror books, try this one. It has a message in the end. I really liked it, couldn’t put it down, but at the same time i was kept awake at night becuase i was terrified someone would jump out of my closet. Lol- if you like creepy, check out the book.
Hey another great book by Ted Dekker is called Three- if you like Mystery and suspense, READ IT! It was amazing. My dad gave it to me and i gave it to two of my friends who devoured it. It is about a person being stalked by someone calling himself Slater. You will never guess who the killer is! i was shocked out of my mind when i finished it. READ IT!
I hated my book because it wouldnt make no sence in my brain.I couldnt comprehend it.One page would be talken about a wizard and then it would be talken about ants.
I like My book Freak the Mighty By Rodman Philbrick: a little young but the book it self is very good it makes the reader feel what you are feeling and the readers want to read more . this book is a real look on what kids fear and what they can over come. thats why i like this book so much.
The novel Black and White by Paul Volponi, was the most confusing and boring book i’ve ever EVER read. It talks about the different thoughts of a black teen and a white teenager, i didn’t switch to a different book only cause i was already half way done with the book when i found out we could. I should have put more consideration into picking my book because i could have enjoyed reading it better. Overall i did not like the book and would not refer it to any of my friends.
Reading the book “This Lullaby” by Sarah Dessen, was not interesting to me. I thought that it would be interesting but when I read the first chapter, I got confused because it talked about different places. The book wasn’t interesting to me because it didn’t catch my attention. It just talked about a little girl with a mom that married about five husbands. If I had a chance then I would have changed my book and look for a more interesting book for me to right about.
I decided to read this book called “The Skin I’m In” my book is about a girl who lives with her mom. Her dad isnt really in her life. Her and her mother are struggling and they just have enough to get by. She goes to school and the kids make fun of her so she becomes friends with this girl and gives her cool clothes to wear but the girl didnt know that she was going to have do many other things in return..[ its a really good book ;so far]
The novel that i read was called Damage by A.M. Jenkins. I was a interesting book that had a good plot. It was about a highschooler who has a great football player but he had trouble in life. He was dealing with depression. I would recommened this book to my friends.
The book that I decided to read is called The Bronx Masquerade. It’s about a group of highschoolers who all have different situations that they go through. Some want to be able to be told they are love, while others are looking for guidance and respect. Their escape from the ” world” is poetry that their english teacher introduced them to. Poetry is what guides them through their troubles. It’s a great book and I recommend to teenagers.
The book that I chose to read was “The Hobbit”. This book is set in the time before the “Fellowship of the Ring” and is the story of a hobbit named Bilbo Baggins who is pulled in to an adventure to travel to the misty mountains. He meets many new things that are not normally found within the hobbit’s home, but all the time he wishes he was home. This book is fore any one who enjoys reading fantasy novels, and I strongly recommend it to any one who likes the “Lord of the Ring” series.
I decided to read this book called” tiger Eyes”. It was written by my favorite author-Judy Blume. This book was basically about a girl named Davey that who lost her father, who was shot in theri family owned store hold up. She takes it pretty hard. They first decide to stay in town and then Davey starts fainting for no reason. So then they all move to Los Alamos, with Daveys aunt and uncle. Davey dosent like the idea of moving away from her friends, but she soon adjusts. She thens climbs down the canyon where she meets a boy who calls himself wolf. He can see the pain in Daveys eyes-he then decides to call her Tiger Eyes. They soon become a little more than friends. We find out that Wolf is in the same situatiion and lives alone. And the rest is left to love as they end the book.
The best part about reading books - from the library or elsewhere -is that when it’s a book of your choice, if you don’t like it, you don’t have to finish it.
I never read a book with a bad review and love to get recommendations from friends.
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak is another Holocaust book that sheds a different light on the time. The main character is a German girl who loves to read, her struggle to get books and how a book can take one away from real life if only for a short time.
When we can relate to a character I feel the author has done a good job. I hate coming to the end of a good book and always slow down my reading pace to savor the ending.
Zusak has another book; I am the Messenger, which I hope is as good as the Book Thief.
If the Holocaust intrigues you, try The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne. This is another piece of fiction that will make you think from the German point of view - maybe???
Some of you may be fans of Stephenie Meyers’ Eclipse series. She has a new book coming out on Tuesday, May 6th, called The Host. It is being marketed as an “adult” book, however, fans would probably be interested in what is being called possibly “the first love triangle involving only two bodies”! Check it out, readers!
I liked Freak the Mighty when I read it way back when and I have yet to hear a bad thing about Twilight and the Eclipse series (think they’re the same thing?). My only concern is that every time I see a copy of the book it’s in the hands of a teenage girl so I might need to make reading it a secret operation…
I don’t know how I managed this but somehow I ended up reading two of the most depressing short novels ever.
The first is called The Death of Ivan Illyich by Tolstoy (because I didn’t have the patience for War and Peace). The first half or so of the book is the main character’s life summarized from childhood until about retirement. The second bit is about him dying. About 50 some pages of the guy suffering and then on the last page he feels better because he realizes dying is the pain and the process and not the end product. He accepts mortality and dying because it is an end to the pains of living. Great poolside read!
The second is called Dawn by Elie Wiesel. Phenomenal book! Even if a bit morose. A Jewish freedom fighter (terrorist) in British-controlled Palestine is put to the task of executing an English P.O.W. I don’t want to give much away outside of that. Just take my word that it’s well worth your time and check it out.
